ENGLISH THEATRE

This morning, the Primary students from La Rambla School and La Milagrosa School went to the Municipal Arts Centre in order to watch two theatre plays performanced by Forum Theatre & Education

This activity was possible thanks to our Town Hall grant.

Our pupils were actors and actresses for a day, because these theatre plays required some participation. They were very interactive plays. Let's talk about them.

The first one was named WITCHES AND COOKIES, and it was at 9.30.

It was about a boy (Paul) and his granny. They lived fantastic adventures in the kitchen. At the beginning, Paul was disappointed, but he loved being with his granny, because he discovered many funny things.

The play started with the boy coming back from school.

Then, in the kitchen, he found granny and her cat, who could talk.

Next, Paul set the table...

... and they started to cook.

But Paul tried to cook something more and, after finding the cookbook, his granny gave him a surprise.

While the oven was going, Paul and his granny danced with us.

But... The biscuit in the oven... had the shape of a man!!!

Finally, granny told us the secret and we celebrated it singing and dancing.

This play was directed to the students from the 1st level to the 3rd level. The vocabulary the students worked was about school material, numbers, rooms, food, face parts, prepositions... It was very appropiated to the pupils English level.

The second one was named SINBAD, directed to the students from the 4th level to the 6th level, and programmed at 11.30.

This time the play was about Scheherezade and her friend Halim telling stories from the book 1001 nights.

First of all, Halim had to find that magic book, so he came down the stage and looked for it in the audience.

Then, Scheherezade and Halim, helping her, started telling stories like Alí Babá and the forty thieves, Aladdin and his magic lamp... But Halim was not paying enough attention.

After that, they, well..., she started to tell the story of Sinbad and Halim acted out the story with some students help.

First, they went into a boat to catch a big fish and Simbad told his new sailors how to do it.

Next, Simbad continued rowing and rowing.

It was a story with treasures, diamonds and gold, and Simbad looked for the diamonds, so he wanted to be rich.

Our main character lived a lot of adventures...

                                                         ... and met other people.

On one of his adventures, Simbad battled a great giant.

Finally, he was happy, so he got new clothes.

At the end of the story, everyone was happy and we celebrated it singing and dancing.

This time, the vocabulary was appropiated too. The students worked with adjectives, verbs, answering questions about general and common vocabulary...

The general view is that this was a fantastic experience both for children and teachers. All of we enjoyed very much this two stories performanced in English.

We hope to watch another theatre plays by Forum Theatre & Education next year ;-)
